📺 Accidental deletions are no longer a cause for panic when you're using OneDrive. Learn how to manage your files effectively, including deleting and restoring

To delete or restore files from your OneDrive recycle bin, follow these steps:

  • Sign in to OneDrive: Open your web browser and go to the OneDrive website. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
  • Access the Recycle Bin: In the navigation pane, find and click on the 'Recycle bin' link. This will display all the files and folders you've deleted.
  • To Restore Files:
    • Select the file(s) or folder(s) you want to restore by clicking the checkbox next to each item.
    • Once you have selected the items, click on the 'Restore' button. This will recover the files back to their original location in your OneDrive.
  • To Permanently Delete Files:
    • Similarly, select the file(s) or folder(s) you want to permanently delete.
    • Click on the 'Delete' button. This action will remove the files permanently from your OneDrive storage.
  • Empty the Recycle Bin: To clear all items, you can click the 'Empty recycle bin' link. This will permanently delete all items in the Recycle Bin.

Note that files in the Recycle Bin count against your OneDrive storage limit. Also, items in the Recycle Bin are automatically deleted 30 days after they are put there, unless your organization has a different policy. Be sure to restore any important files before they are permanently removed.
