Enhance data security with Microsoft Purviews DLP policies in Power BI, ensuring sensitive information detection and regulatory compliance.

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies for Power BI are now generally available with Microsoft Purview. The purpose of DLP policies is to automatically detect sensitive information in your Power BI tenant and take necessary risk remediation actions. This helps you comply with governmental or industry regulations, such as the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Using DLP policies in Power BI strengthens your security posture and reduces the risk of sensitive information being uploaded to the cloud without your knowledge.

New features introduced in this release include:

  • Automatic detection of sensitive data as it is uploaded into Power BI. This includes out-of-the-box sensitive info types (SIT), such as credit cards and social security numbers, and custom SITs, such as regex or keyword lists and dictionaries.
  • Combining SITs and sensitivity labels with advanced conditions using AND/OR/NOT operators.
